Pintle hitches are used for heavy duty applications, usually over 10,000 lbs and typically in commercial and agricultural applications. A pintle hitch or hook can be attached to your vehicle using a mounting bar or using a pintle hook adapter with your Class IV or V hitch.
Just as with any towing system, the towing capacity of the entire system is limited to the lowest rating out of all the components.
