Wagan and Vector Smart 12-volt battery chargers represent the next generation
of automotive battery chargers. A conventional auto battery charger povides
a pulsating supply of direct current (DC). This kind of battery charger
has no way of knowing what is happening to the battery it is charging. This
can result in overcharging, overheating , and even (with battery chargers
that don't know when to shut themselves off) "cooking" the battery. This
can shorten battery life and in some cases destroy the battery. |
| Vector's Smart battery chargers contain advanced
microprocessor electronics that provide a regulated 12-volt DC output
that monitors battery condition. It can "sense" the condition of the battery
and change its output voltage and amperage as required. This results in
a safer and higher quality charge that won't damage your 12-volt
battery. The following additional features (depending on the model) are
built into Vector Smart 12-volt battery chargers: |
- Reverse hook-up protection - Vector Smart battery chargers WON'T work
if you connect them backwards, and they won't be harmed if you accidentally
make this mistake
- Spark-resistance - the microprocessor control eliminates or minimizes
sparking during hook-up
- Bulk charge - provides rapid starts within minutes to vehicles with
discharged batteries
- LED (light emitting diode) display - shows battery charge status and
operating codes
- Battery reconditioning - rejuvenates older 12-volt auto batteries;
can extend their useful life
- Shorted cell detection - indicates a shorted internal power cell (the
battery can't be recharged)
- More - self stored cables, bright easy-to-read display, other features
depending on model.
