You have your Trailer Hitch, now you need your Towing Accessories Start with your Ball Mount and Trailer Balls. Purchase your Ball Mount according to the Class of Hitch you have. Typically Class 1 & 2 will require a 1 1/4" Ball mount or Receiver Mount and higher classes will use a 2" receiver mount or ball mount. The size of your ball will be determined by the ball mount you're placing it on, as well as what you'll be towing. We carry a selection of Adjustable mounts for trailer towballs, and switchable multi-size balls. Please Note: Some Class II hitches have a 2" receiver and require Class III accessories.
When matching a ball mount and trailer hitch ball, the ball hole in the mount should be no more than 1/16" larger than the diameter of the ball shank. Also, pay attention to the thickness of the ball mount tongue compared to the length of the ball shank. The ball shank should fit through the ball mount and still have enough room to add the nut and a lock washer and still have at least one thread visible beneath the nut when tightened. Use a torque wrench to tighten nut to recommended torque.
CAUTION: Ford factory installed hitch or receivers with heavy rounded corners may have difficulty with some Ball Mounts
